When the weather warms up we like to fish deep weed edges for big smallmouth. Our favorite bait is a 4 or 5 inch wacky worm. This time of year some shade of green works best. My wife and I were working one of our favorite spots. She was using a heavier outfit with 10 pound braid and floro leader while I grabbed an ultra light with 4 pound mono. My first fish was a 20" beauty and about 15 minutes later I tied into a 21" fish. It was a struggle getting him in on light tackle and he made two spectacular jumps.My wife netted both fish and took the pictures, but she wasn't a happy camper. The next day in the same spot she got the first three fish but missed the master angler cut with a 19" fish. I have a feeling we'll be back at this spot and hopefully we'll have a 20" or better fish for her.
