A friend of mine Lucas Newhouse and I had a short day at work. it was windy and raining a little off and on. it was not nice out at all put it that way mn fall weather!! we where fishing the calm side of the lake trying to stay warm and we decided to go troll the windy side for a while. about 15 mins into out trolling i had a strike on my 14 in sucker minnow. i had my heavy 8 ft muskie mojo rod with a caiman baitcaster real.. i had the real set with the bail open and the alarm on! soon as i heard the alarm i looked at luke and said thats a fish i think!!! then luke said its running hard straight to the deap water! right then i knew it was a fish!!! i gave him about 30 seconds and soon as i felt him slow down a little i set the hook hard and it was a good set!! the fish felt like it sat there like a rock for the first 5 mins going back and forth nice and slow! i felt like i wasnt going to budge this thing even with my 50 lb power pro line!!! then it started running hard for a good stretch!!! i think it wore him out a lot!!! he started comeing in a little at a time!! when we finally seen the thing for the first time luke says holy its a beast!!!! and finally he streached with my new muskie net which seamed too small and the fish fell in!!! i was the happiest man alive!!!!!! i tell you what!!!!!! lots and lots of time spent on these fish!!! the only ruler i had was my 34 inch walleye ruler on the side of my boat!!! so i took the fish put his nose on zero and told luke to scratch a mark in the side of the boat!! and hurry we need to get this thing back in the water!!! after the fish recovered and swam away it was the best feeling ever!! i even got to watch him swim away for probably a min because we where in such shallow water by then from the wind!! as i was trying to get us out of the weeds luke measured with the net handle from the end of my 34 in tape to the mark on the boat and added it up he said 54 and a half!! but when we got home from the lake we took a tape measure from the beginning of the walleye ruler to the mark and it was a beastly 58 and a half inches long!!! Thats what im talking about!!!!!!! BEAST!!!!!!
