About a month ago I had family come from Montana to meet me and my dad to go ice fishing since we are all busy anymore this was the best time to do it. So on the first day my 2 cousins, dad, grandpa, and myself went to Elwood Res. Since we had heard they were catching some white bass and wipers through the ice and we had never caught a wiper through the ice before. We got to the lake right at sun up and walked about a mile across the ice. Before we started drilling holes. We drilled, drilled, and drilled for 8 hours looking for fish never having a bite. Saw a few fish first thing on our fish finders but that was it. Eventually we ended up back where we started at sunset because that was the only place we saw fish. My dad hooked and landed a wiper then he had another one on and all 5 of us got over to where he was and all 5 of us were hooked up on wipers. I ended up catching 3 wipers in all as well did everyone in the last hour. This was the biggest one, we were fishing 30 feet of water jigging Rippin Raps. Most of the fish were released right away. We took a couple photos with a few fish, but got them back in as quick as we could and they seemed to swim down on their own. This was the hardest day of ice fishing I have ever had, but in the end all I remember is the last hour and how crazy it was to have 5 people at the same time fighting a wiper through the ice.
